We Believe…

The Word of God: The Bible is the inspired word of God, a revelation from God to man and is the infallible rule for faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason. The inerrancy of the Bible refers to the original Hebrew and Greek scriptures and not necessarily to every translation of the scriptures. 2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Peter 1:23-25, Hebrews 4:12.

One God in Three Distinct Persons: The one true God has revealed himself as the eternally self-existent, self-revealed, “I AM”. He has revealed himself through the scriptures as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1, John 1:1-3, John 10:30. John 14:16, 26.

Mankind: Man was created good and upright, for God said, “let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” Man, by voluntary transgression fell, and his only hope is in Jesus Christ, the son of God. Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7, Romans 5:12-21.

Salvation: The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, through the preaching of repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Man is saved by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost and being justified by faith through grace. The evidence of the salvation of man is the inward evidence to the believer by the direct witness of the Holy Spirit. Titus 2:11, Romans 10:13-15, Titus 3:5-7, Luke 24:47, Romans 8:16.

Water Baptism: Water baptism is an outward demonstration of the inward evidence of salvation. Water baptism declares to the world that those who are saved by faith in Jesus Christ, have died with Jesus and have been raised with him to walk in newness of life. Matthew 28:19, Acts 10:47-48, Romans 6:4.

The Lord’s Supper: The Lord’s Supper, or Communion, consisting of the elements of bread and the fruit of the vine is the symbol expressing our sharing in the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ, and a memorial of his suffering and death, as well as a prophecy of his second coming. John 6:51-57, Luke 22:19-20, 2 Peter 1:4, 1 Corinthians 11:26, John 6:48.

The Promise of the Father: The Promise of the Father is the gift of the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given to all believers without measure. The scripture admonishes all believers to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. The Holy Spirit is given to lead believers into all truth of the scripture, to bring comfort, and enable all believers to live a powerful Christian life in this world. Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4-8, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31, Acts 2:38, Acts 10:44-46, Acts 11:14-16.

Spiritual Gifts: The gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to believers to profit and edify the church. Spiritual gifts are energized by love for God and love for people. Spiritual gifts are not superior to spiritual fruit. Spiritual gifts are accompanied by a life that demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12&13.

Sanctification: Sanctification is a gradual process that follows regeneration. The believer gradually moves out of sin and is continually growing into righteousness. Sanctification is what transforms our image into the image of Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:18, Galatians 3:27, Ephesians 4:24.
